URBAN JUNGLE L TRAIN VINTAGE
I'm sorry for the wait, but I've finally been able to take a second and sit in front of my Macbook to fill you in on my Urban Jungle thrift experience.
I was obsessed with every fur in here! The prices ranged from $25 and up. The most expensive one I saw was $200.
The whole army look is such a huge thing currently, and nowhere better than here to get them. Jackets started from $12 and there's such a range of styles including patches and pins!
SO MANY VARSITY JACKETS! A lot of them had such cool patches and logos. Awesome colors too!
Vintage Levis jackets for dayssss. So so many, priced from $15 and up.
Flannels on flannels on flannels, dope sweaters, and cool windbreakers!
For your lumberjack feelzzz.
First off, the store is HUGE. Two floors of treasures. It's best to go when you have no rush, because you can find so much, you just need to come with time to look. There are racks PACKED with things. Genuine fur coats, leather jackets, jean jackets, flannels, and so many army pieces it's insane. Varsity jackets, handbags, accessories, it's vintage heaven. If you have the patience to thrift (I was with my fiance who knows NOTHING about patience when it comes to shopping), this is an amazing place to check out. The prices are amazing too. Super cheap! Well worth the visit in my opinion.
I mentioned in a comment that I would compile a list of thrift stores to check out, so as promised, here they are:
- L TRAIN VINTAGE - 1377 Dekalb Ave, New York, 11221
- BEACONS CLOSET - 74 Guernsey St, Brooklyn, NY 11222 and 10 W 13th St
- BUFFALO EXCHANGE - 114 W 26th St, New York, NY 10001
- UNIQUE - 408 Fulton St, Brooklyn, NY 11201
Those are my absolute favorites. If you're into second hand vintage designer items, (a bit pricey), these are a few of my favorites:
- A SECOND CHANCE DESIGNER RESALE - 155 Prince St, New York, NY 10012 and 1109 Lexington Ave, New York, NY 10075
- WHAT GOES AROUND COMES AROUND - 351 W Broadway, New York, NY 10013
- FILLMORE AND 5TH - 398 Broome St, New York, NY 10013
- TOKIO 7 - 83 E 7th St, New York, NY 10003 (I've never been but I've heard this one is pretty awesome)
There's a world of thrift and consignment shops out there, and I need to see them all! If you've visited or know of any dope ones that I need to check out LET ME KNOW! I love me a good thrift store!
AIN'T NO SHAME IN SHOPPING AT A THRIFT STORE MAMI
I've got to start with the thrift stores Kings.
Listen.
AIN'T NO SHAME IN SHOPPING AT A THRIFT STORE.
I love me a thrift store.
You want to know what I've SCORED at the thrift?! I'm talking Alexander Wang bags, Isabel Marant sneakers, Acne jeans, all that good stuff! I've even spotted Celine heels in there!! Too bad they weren't my size!!
Being that I'm comfortable, (okay kind of obsessed), with thrift stores, I forget that there are ladies out there who absolutely HATE them.
Well, I just might change your minds.
If you want to satisfy your fashion cravings, a thrift store is a great place to start. For one, the amount of money you'll save is amazing. They hold so many hidden gems, from designer to vintage, and brand new to pre-loved.
If you're someone like me who absolutely loves fashion (you probably are since you're reading this), or saving money (honestly who doesn't like saving money), you must know the feeling when you snag a designer piece or a bomb statement piece for your wardrobe at a good deal. You feel like you won the lottery. This is EXACTLY how I feel every time I score something at a thrift store.
When you're shopping at thrifts, you want to pay attention to location, because location will determine your finds. When you want to find designer pieces, think more upscale locations. I've seen a Chanel bag in a Flatiron district thrift store window! Want more vintage pieces? Try Brooklyn thrift stores. Trust me, there is so much gold at thrift stores, you just have to look.
My fave thrifts are Buffalo Exchange, Beacons Closet, and Unique. A couple weeks back I found out about Urban Jungle, which I can already tell I'm going to have a field day when I go check it out. I'm on the hunt for a cool fur coat, so maybe I'll get lucky. I've also heard that there are some great thrift stores in New Jersey.
I'll keep you Kings posted on my Urban Jungle shopping day, and share any goodies I find. Let me know if you've tried shopping thrifts, what your fave ones are so that I can check them out, and any gems you may have found!
